 The Mississippi's just keep coming!!

Prompt:  What Can Happen in a Second?

 

One Mississippi.  I saw you.  You saw me.  A smile transpired and we both knew that something special was there.  I tipped my head to the side and looked coyly at you from across the room, willing you to come over and talk to me.

Two Mississippi.  You turned my face toward yours and assertively placed your lips on mine. A first kiss that stirred my very soul.

Three Mississippi. You grabbed my hand as we walked back down the aisle, as Mr. and Mrs., a gentle squeeze representing all of our hopes and dreams for happily ever after.

Four Mississippi. I didn’t mean it. I regretted instantly that it slipped from my lips, but I can’t u- say it and your heart is ripped open by the razor sharp barbs of my harsh words. And vice-versa.

Five Mississippi.  You brush the tears from my face and kiss my forehead.

Six Mississippi.  We are one. The moment of conception. A beating heart. (x6) Our lives will never be the same.

Seven Mississippi.  A Mothers prayer. A Fathers embrace. A kiss goodnight.

Eight Mississippi.  The slideshow on the digital photo frame changes from a happy image of our children to the joyful face of our granddaughter. We both swell with love.

Nine Mississippi. I see you. You see me. A smile transpires and we both know that something special is still there.

Ten Mississippi.  Possibility. 

Every Mississippi is an endless source of what could be. When things are hard, the seconds pass and carry us from the difficulties, to comfort.  From pain to peace and from doubt back to hope again.  A second is the moment that dream becomes reality and that the intangible becomes tangible.  A second is a measure of Life. A unit of measure to count potential, hope and happily ever after.  Our happily ever after lies in each second we are able to give to one another.
